Description

The Regional Director of Health Care is responsible for maintaining a quality of care based on established nursing standards and resident rights while supporting and assisting in the implementation of facility policy and state regulations in regards to nursing and health care. The Regional Director of Health Care verifies the presence, quality and accuracy of nursing documentation required by facility policy and government regulations as well as provides leadership, planning, coordinating, continuous monitoring and evaluation of the care given to residents. This position performs a combination of worker-supervisor duties, which requires that the Regional Director also performs as necessary those duties assigned to the nursing staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures that the facility complies with all state regulations.

  • Understands and implements company policies and procedures.

  • Performs quarterly audits including resident charts, medication room, and QA interventions.

  • Participates in care conferences as needed or requested.

  • Performs comprehensive assessment on potential.

  • Ensures proper admission procedures are followed

  • Ensures all pre-admission documentation is received within 30 days of admission.

  • Ensures all nursing documentation is done upon admission

  • Provides clinical training for staff.

  • Performs regular review of EMAR reports to ensure compliance in the medication room.

  • Trains and delegates medication administration to designated medication techs and performs monthly supervisory visits to all med passers as needed in States that allow for RN delegation.

  • Regularly monitors wound care provided in communities to ensure appropriateness and effectiveness.

  • Monitors the careful and efficient use of supplies, checks medical supplies and sees that supplies are ordered as needed.

  • Attends meetings as required; works cooperatively with members of the management and care team, maintains effective interdepartmental an interpersonal relations with residents, staff, and visitors.

  • Reviews incident reports and follow up notes regularly to ensure state reportable incidents are being reported, proper procedure is being followed and documented.

  • Must be available to staff 24 hours to provide support to community nursing staff and answer questions regarding residents, policies, and procedures.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

  • Budgetary responsibilities include reviewing financial and budget transactions, assisting with budget development, and budgetary control.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Five (5) years’ management experience with at least 2 years of experience with geriatrics, memory care or in a skilled nursing or assisted living community.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Completion of a Professional Nursing Program, approved by the state of which you are employed, and licensed to practice as a registered nurse.

  • General knowledge of professional basic nursing, restoratives and personal care services, general knowledge of resident mental health and social needs and residents rights

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation, and interaction with coworkers and management.

  • Proficient working knowledge of knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clear driving record (satisfactory for inclusion on company auto insurance policy).

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, flexible hours.

  • Ability to travel locally and out of town up to 75%.
